This is a very troubling statistic but we must also account for a population increase. According to Census.gov world clock there are 328mm people as of 3/25/2019 and there were 279.3mm in 1999. The country has added 48.7mm more people in 20 years representing a 17.4% increase. It was .00061% of our population in 1999. It is .00021% today. According to comparison per our population it is actually down to 1/3 the rate. Regardless it is still unacceptable.
