Fire to burn California, Water to Erase Nations, Air to Poison Houston & Soil to take your Livelihood
I move fire winds from the west to halt an entire state from functioning. I raise water in the east to remove islands from your maps. I spew poison into the air to cause pestilence. I will corrupt your food to poison your children.
Amongst the shadows of a dark chamber sits a man. He is aged with a top hat. His eyes burn blue with a glimmer of fire. The man’s eyes burn with deep thought. Through the cracks of his skin show his age. He is ancient. Almost like a stone.
A boom comes from across his chamber.
“I have burned your state to ash. I have created the first Giga Fire in recorded history.”
The man moves to an upright position.
“As it should.”
In from the shadows comes a man with hair of fire. His eyes burning bright red. “You spoke California? This state of fallacy. Claiming its green energy laws. Ha. I burnt it.”
The aged man nods and says, “Good.”
The wind stirs. A howl comes from the hall. A rank stench begins to fill the room.
“Ah. I see we have another visitor.” The aged man says.
An apparition appears in the midst. A ghostly thing. Eyes fizzing and a face hard to see. His form is unknown, but his presence is all too familiar.
“I have poisoned the air. I cast shadows across many lands. In Mumbai I make it where people breathe some of the worst air in Asia. I killed 3,000 people in New York. In East Houston I filled the air with cancer causing chemicals.”
The Wind seems excited. It pulses in arousal.
“I especially like East Houston. The air is tainted. I make it where children inherit asthma. I am quite fond of this pestilence.”
The apparition moves closer.
Fire brushes a flame.
“Be away from me. I will burn you away. I care not for children.”
The apparition retreats.
“What could be better than watching people suck air? They always want me!” The apparition grins an evil smile.
“They are gasping for something…something which will always leave them wanting more.”
“No one needs you.” Booms a voice from across the room. Suddenly…water begins to fill the room. The aged man looks unbothered. He investigates the distance of his balcony unbothered. Fire seems concerned. The water rushes to his feet. Smoke begins to spew from his toes.
Fire gasps, “What is this!?”
The apparition begins to laugh. “I see no comedy!” Yells Fire.
“It’s an introduction to my good friend…you don’t like him?” Apparition smirks.
Fire blazes up the walls burning banners and curtains.
“Do not burn my drapes.” The aged man bellows.
“I am here.” A watery voice pulses.
All three move their attention toward the center of the room. In the middle of the chamber is a round table. A majestic gold bowl sits at its center. The table is hard stone with slits in the middle to allow a funnel to the bowl. The funnels are inlaid with gold and lead to shoots in the bowl.
Water rushes into the slits. Bubbles percolate and froth.
The bowl begins to spew water mist. Amongst the mist a water begins to shape. A manlike shape comes to being.
“Hello.” The water bellows.
The aged man looks from his perch to the center of the room.
“Tell me. What have you done?”
“I have erased your targets. The nations of Marshall Island, Maldives, and others will be gone before the turn of this century.”
“Are you certain?” asks the Aged man.
“Yes. I am certain. I will also overcome the city of Miami. The fools keep buying houses despite the fact I will destroy it. The federal government thinks 4.6 billion will help.”
A loud laugh bellows from the hall. Even the aged man cannot help but chuckle.
“Has anyone seen our dear friend who toils the soil?” speaks the Aged Man.
“I created her for a purpose. As I created all of you.” The aged man glares with eye piercing vision.
Then…a sound comes. The table shifts. The room quakes. The drapes blow with vibration. Apparition appears jealous. In its face we see only banners should move for wind.
Then a grumble. A pop. A crack splits across the room. Out surfaces a golem. Not gothic…but beautiful. Odd a rock could take such a compelling figure.
“I do not take fondly to you spitting my floor!” The Aged man yells. His creases have cracked. His skin flushes red. His hands grip an iron scepter with such force all believe it will break.
A still comes through the room.
“Relax old man. Together we will cost the Southeast $24 billion in additional annual lost labor, the Midwest $16 billion, and the Southwest $11 billion where temperatures are hottest. We are banding together to cost the United States 75 billion per year by 2090.”
“They call us Global Warming.” Smirks Fire.
“We are nothing of the sort.” Yells Apparition.
“Correct. We are what the Aged Man has made.” Earth rumbles.
The aged man looks on. The elements begin to surround the aged man. The aged man looks from left to right. Sweat begins to bead his brow.
“This is true.” The Aged man whispers. “My need for energy led to 78% of the total greenhouse production in the world. My need to industrialize China for money led to 27.8% of its greenhouse emission increase.”
The elements draw closer to the Aged Man.
“I must confess. I am only moved now to change your course because I can claim up to 780 billion in profits over 10 years.” The Aged Man looks on at his creations. Desolate destruction encircles the lands he has created.
“So what becomes of us?” Water bubbles.
The Aged Man looks on for a bit. Then he glances back towards his creations.
The elements gasp.
“I created you for my pursuit of greed. Now I am going to eliminate you for my greed. Money will always be my driver. I create and destroy for nothing more than money.”
In that instant a void fills the room. Air sucks itself from an invisible chamber. The howl it echoes in death is deafening. Air sucks into a vacuum and its pain fixes into a small point.
At this point Water realizes the Aged Man intends to remove them. Water tries to drip away. The Aged Man’s burning desire for greed broils. He shoots a hiss from his mouth. The Aged Man burns Water to a crisp by spewing a hot breath.
For a moment Fire looks relived. There is a purpose for heat. He will not blot me out. Then as quick as the thought comes it becomes buried in suppression. Fire is stuffed out with…dirt. Fire looks on with horror as he is extinguished with nothing more than a mountain of earth.
Earth sounds a sigh of relief. Truly the only real value is the soil. Then a compression is felt. Earth begins to feel pressured. What is this????? Earth thinks.
The pressure becomes extreme. The pressure is unbearable. Earth takes her eyes towards the aged man.
“I need a diamond.” Says the aged man.
AHHHHHHHHHH — — — boom!
Earth becomes a brilliant diamond. None like the world has seen before.
“Truly…Earth your only purpose was to make me rich. I am man. I am greed. I pursue my own desires. I destroy things to enrich myself. When will you learn?”
The aged man walks slowly across the chamber clutching his diamond. He pushes towards a balcony. Then he peers over the land.
“Weather Derivatives, Drought Resistant Seeds, Hybrid Cars and Renewable Energy tax credits are my only incentives to change. When will the fools learn the only thing that drives change is money?”
A shadow casts its shade long but only when we realize change is impacted by profits will we really see change. The story is more than entertainment…it is the shift to your next economic portfolio selection. The aged man speaks the truth and perhaps you will heed it! Allocate to seed banks, hybrid car companies and pursue renewable energy companies listing on a stock exchange.
Tomorrow’s pursuit of profit will be yesterday’s heckle.
To your knowledge success!
